ONLINE CHILDREN'S BOOK: The King With The Endless Robe

Six children gathered around Grandpa Michael.  They heard of the story he tells of the mighty King’s throne room, and they waited with great desire to hear it.  He told the story of s mysterious throne room of God. This is where God sat, and His robe filled the temple of His throne.  The children waited with great desire to hear the story about the great King.  Grandpa said, “Gather around children and hear this story of the great and mighty King.”  The children turned to each other in amazement, and Grandpa said, “And it cane to pass in those days, that there was a great and mighty King who had an endless robe.  The length of the King’s robe could not be measured.  His robe was pure white and bright and light.  The King was unlike any earthly king.  There was no earthly king who had an endless robe as this King.   His robe filled the temple.  He was, and is, and always shall be.  There was never a time when He was not.  This King’s reign shall never end.  The reign of earthly kings was not like this great King.  Their reign would end at a certain time but the great King’s reign is endless just like His endless robe.”  The children were amazed, and asked, “Grandpas, what makes this King set apart?”  Grandpa said, “This great King was uniquely holy.  No living thing was as holy as this awesome King.  No one stood beside Him for He was holy and divine.  This King, unlike His creation, was All-Powerful, All-Knowing, and Ever-present and All-Wise.”  Grandpas said, “Let me tell you of the King’s friend. Isaiah was a good friend with God who provided the snow that could not be plowed.  Isaiah was a great prophet of God.  Yes, by the favor of the King, Isaiah was clothed with His a heavenly covering of righteousness that was the color of snow and as bright as light.  Only the King could supply this robe of righteousness and His chosen few have it given to them.”  John and Peter asked, “When did this happen?”  Grandpa said, “Now it came to pass in the days when King Uzziah died, that there was a man who met this Great King who resided in a great temple of light and gold.  There was only One King who could rightly sit on this throne.  These days we see a false reign of the prince of darkness who has no legitimate right to the King’s throne.     Now Isaiah was an appointed preacher of God.  He boldly proclaimed the Word of God to the people.  He was God’s chosen instrument in the blessed city of Jerusalem. Now in those days Isaiah was a married man who had two sons.  His task was the mission of a covenant sufferer.  His mission was just charges, condemnation and judgments against a wicked people.”  Then Grandpa said, “All of you, dear ones, have a special purpose for this great King.  God has appointed a mission for us to glorify Him by speaking His truth to a lost world.”  The children shouted, “Wow!  We need to pray and mediate on this truth.”  Grandpa said, “Rightly said.”  And so Grandpa continued, “And this is the story of Isaiah’s encounter with the Great King of the eternal city of God.  He was a blessed messenger of God who saw the Lord in His heavenly court of righteousness.  It came to pass in those days that; Behold, the Lord was sitting on His throne.  The Lord was the King, and the King was the Lord.  He sat High on His throne and lifted up in the heavens where He reigns as the true King of heaven and earth.  And we know that His robe filled the temple, and there was no King who had an endless robe like this King.”  And little Michael and Andrew said, “You mean His robe never ended?”  Grandpa said, “The endless robe showed forth the reality of the Eternity of this great King.  He was the King that always was.  This King was majestic and holy and sovereign over all things.  Isaiah knew him to be the King who never was created but lived in eternity, and now in time, as the Everlasting King of kings.  All of His people who come before this great King worshiped and praised and thanked Him for Who He is.”  Grandpa stopped, and said, “Let us bowed our heads and hearts to Him who is the great King.” And the children and Grandpas bowed their heads and hearts in worship of the King.  All the children marveled at the awesome presence of the King.  Grandpa continued, “As the King was on His throne, it meant He ruled heaven and earth.  The seraphim had six wings; with two he covered his face because of the great holiness of the King and because he had no glory to compare with God’s majestic glory; and with two he covered his feet because he was modest, and with two he flew because it was known that the seraphim accomplished the will of God.    And the heavenly chorus cried to another in worship of the King, and raised their voices in gladness.  And behold they said, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”  (NKJV).  As the King sat on His throne Isaiah could see the splendor of His utter holiness.  He knew the Lord of hosts was a divine warrior.  And the posts of the door were shaken by their voices that cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.  Grandpa stopped and took off his eye-glasses; posed, and said, “Children, we need to remember who we are and who our God is.  We are unholy and God is holy.  We need to faithfully repent of our sins, because God does not tolerate sin, and He has commanded in His Word that people should turn from their sin.”  Grandpa placed his eye-glasses on and continued, “Now it came to pass in those days that Isaiah was undone, and said, “Woe is me.”  He encountered a holy God who is wholly set apart.  Isaiah was amazed at the glory of God that was set before him in awesome appeal.  Isaiah was a man of unclean lips.”  Grandpa said to the children, “Everyone in the world is a person of unclean lips, and all who are reconciled to God by His sinless Son will be cleansed from all matter of spiritual uncleanness.  The Lord Jesus provides us with His perfect righteousness by faith alone.  We need His righteousness alone to stand before God.  Without His righteousness we could not stand before God.”  Grandpa posed, and the children said, “We have faith in Jesus and God has given us His righteousness.”  Grandpa said, “It is the Word of God that assures of that everyone who believes in His Only Son has His righteousness which covers them before the presence of God.”  Grandpa said, “He is holy, but if we believe, we are His friends like Isaiah.”  Ruth and Mary said, “We are His friends.”  Grandpa said, and smiled, “Well said.”  The other children nodded and smiled.  Grandpa continued, “Now it was that Isaiah saw the King who was the Lord of hosts.  Isaiah’s sins were removed because of the all-sufficient sacrifice of Christ which purged the sins of His own people.  For the Spirit says, “Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NKJV).
The children said, “We see how awesome this King is.  How great and mysterious!”  Grandpa nodded and continued, “It came to pass in those days that the Lord desired to send someone from Himself.  The Lord said, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” (NKJV).  And thus it was that Isaiah had a special mission; He was to represent the heavenly court.  To his disappointment he was sent not to save Israel but to harden their hearts.  In those days they were an impenitent people who had calloused hearts of stone.”  Grandpa posed, took a deep breath and said, “Do you understand the necessity of being born again?”  The children said, “We have learned that the Word of God and the Spirit of God changes the stony heart of man.”  Grandpa smiled and said, “Well said children.” He continued, “Isaiah proclaimed to a wicked people of the Lord’s compliant about their faithlessness and sinful rebellion.  Isaiah called upon God’s people to turn to the Lord, continue in His word, engage in faithful repentance and holiness for God’s glory.”  The children shouted, “Out of love for Him we need to be faithful to the Lord!  We represent Him to the world!” Grandpa said, “What you have said is correct.” He continued, “Now Isaiah was a man who came to pronounce judgment upon Israel but there shall be a godly remnant who survives God’s holy judgment.  Isaiah thought of how he was inspired by God’s Word by His Spirit.  He was filled with awe and adoration for the Lord.  Now it happened in those days, the wickedness of the people grew, and Isaiah was swan into by a sword.  So it was as Christ Himself said of the leaders of His day, “In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs” (Luke 11:48 NKJV).  Yet Isaiah forever reigns in glory with the great King of glory, beholding the face of God, seeing His holy face.  Surely, his death was precious in the Lord’s eyes, it was his appointed time for the Spirit says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints” (Psalms 116:15 NKJV).  Then children shouted, “Amen Grandpa.”  And he said, “It stands as a testimony of God’s enduring Word.  Isaiah served the King with the endless robe!  We must take our commitment to the Lord with great seriousness.”  And so it was that Grandpa and the children bowed their heads and hearts in knowing the great cost of serving Him who has the endless robe.  And so it was in the days of Grandpa Michael that the children grew up in the way they should go; serving the great King in the Spirit of Isaiah and telling others about the King with the endless robe.  The King said to His children “Be faithful” and Grandpa said, “Amen.”

Isaiah 6

 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
       "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
       the whole earth is full of his glory."
 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
 5 "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."
 6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."
 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
      And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

 9 He said, "Go and tell this people:
       " 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
       be ever seeing, but never perceiving.'

 10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
       make their ears dull
       and close their eyes.
       Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
       hear with their ears,
       understand with their hearts,
       and turn and be healed."

 11 Then I said, "For how long, O Lord?"
      And he answered:
       "Until the cities lie ruined
       and without inhabitant,
       until the houses are left deserted
       and the fields ruined and ravaged,

 12 until the LORD has sent everyone far away
       and the land is utterly forsaken.

 13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
       it will again be laid waste.
       But as the terebinth and oak
       leave stumps when they are cut down,
       so the holy seed will be the stump in the land."
